| Description: |
| Achievement First East New York-Elementary shares an NYC Department of Education facility, PS 13, with a DOE public school. Achievement First East New York-Elementary is one of Achievement First's first two elementary schools in New York and is led by Principal Jada Best. Within six weeks of opening the school, the teachers at AF East New York-Elementary used assessments to identify students who needed more help and students who were reading above grade level, two groups that often are neglected. They then redesigned their reading groupings to better meet the needs of these students. The primary pillar of all Achievement First schools is to provide a rigorous academic environment in which all students achieve excellence. Excuses will not be tolerated. Mediocrity will not be good enough. |
