| Students at the Bronx Lighthouse Charter School will acquire the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes they need to prepare for college. There will be more time to learn with an 8 hour school day and a 190 day school year. The school will devote extra time to math and literacy. The Arts will serve as a principle teaching tool, supporting and enhancing our school's mission to ensure that our students are literate and competent scholars. Through an emphasis on classic techniques, creative exercises, critiques, gallery-style shows, and appreciation for professional artists from a variety of genres, teachers will engage students in core subjects and leverage their diverse learning styles. The school will feature small class sizes, no more that 22 students in a class, with students and teachers staying together for two years. |
