Final Notice – The following charter renewal has been approved by operation of law.

Democracy Prep New York Charter Schools, an education corporation operating more than one charter, sought to renew its corporate authority for a full term of five years as well as its authority to operate the following charter schools:

• Bronx Preparatory Charter School is located at 3872 Third Ave, Bronx, NY 10457, in CSD 9 and is chartered to serve 793 students in grades 6-12 for the 2023-24 school year, the final year of the current charter term. The school sought a four-year renewal of the charter commencing July 1, 2025. According to the renewal application, the school will be expanding to serve 800 students in grades 6-12.
• Democracy Preparatory Charter School is located at 222 West 134th St, New York, NY 10030, and 2230 5th Ave, New York, NY 10037, in CSD 5 and chartered to serve 915 students in grades K-1 and 6-12 for the 2023- 24 school year, the final year of the current charter term. The school sought a four-year renewal of the charter commencing July 1, 2025. According to the renewal application, the school will be decreasing to serve 690 students in grades 6-12.
• Harlem Prep Charter School is located at 240 East 123rd St, New York, NY 10035, 101-111 West 116th St, New York, NY 10026, and 232 East 103rd St, New York, NY 1002, in CSDs 3 and 4, and is chartered to serve 1000 students in grades K-12 for the 2023- 24 school year, the final year of the current charter term. The school sought a three-year renewal of the charter commencing August 1, 2026. According to the renewal application, the school will be decreasing to serve 862 students in grades 3-12.

The SUNY Trustees: 1) received the renewal application on or about August 15, 2023, 2) approved the renewal on February 2, 2024, and 3) the renewal was approved by operation of law on or about August 23, 2024.
